A full moon streaming in the window early this morning had me in the studio at a silly hour. But magic can happen at any time, and this piece was effortless and joy filled! It was lovely to have a studio partner for tea, and Eshima (whose name means "true blessed intention") was a perfectly delightful guest.
Between the lovely tradition of offering guests tea in Ireland and the ceremonial tea of the Japanese gardens this week, I believe the universe is telling me to have more tea and tea parties! There is something so soothing and reassuring about a hot cup of tea, perfectly brewed and served in a beautiful mug.
My mugs at home have the girls from my paintings printed on them. This allows a little of the special energy of each girl adopted and moved away to remain here in my kitchen by night and to hang out with me in the studio by day. It makes the morning tea that much more wonderful.
I believe I'll brew some calming tea this afternoon. We just finished watching the All-Ireland Gaelic Football finals, which were an intense 70+ minutes of turnovers, tackles, slippery field and high energy ending in a tie. The rematch is in two weeks, and I will certainly need at least that long to calm down after this match today.
Eshima is already picking out some lovely loose-leafed herbal tea in the kitchen. She's a good one to have around. :)
