"Have Bun - Will Travel" - mixed media on gallery-wrapped canvas, 12" x 12"
I am cracking myself up today! Do you ever have that experience? My brain is completely entertaining me. So I am continuing to read my cowboy book (see day 13), and have all kinds of Western themes running through my head. I also continue to wear my hair in messy buns every day, because life is too busy for anything else. (Can you see where this is going?) Yes, hair buns meet Western themes. Therefore the title of this piece, "Have Bun - Will Travel."
There was a t.v. series in the 50's and 60's which spawned this pun of a title.
A vigilante for hire, who would often do jobs for free for poor people. A hired killer with a conscience and a wicked mustache. Does it get any better than that?
My dad is a fan of the cowboy novel, the Western movie genre and cowboy folksongs. He is also a fan of trains. Recently, we've been talking a lot about cross-country trips by train. Mostly across the West, of course. So trains, Westerns and hair buns. All tangled up in a brain with a warped sense of humor.
This piece made me laugh out loud...a serious looking girl with a hair bun, hands poised to draw guns or luggage, waiting to board a train bound for somewhere. Cue mysterious cowboy music! It is my sincere hope someone out there is as amused as I am, and perhaps finds a little spot of delight in their day as result of following this tale of meandering art inspiration.
This piece is available, ready for hanging. Inquiries: email@example.com
